— Updated March 7 at 8 a.m. —The schedule for the 2014 San Juan Islands Agriculture Summit: Farming for the Next Generation” has been set for the county-sponsored event March 7 and 8.
The Summit will take place at Orcas School, with regional organizations WA State Small Farms Team; Northwest Agriculture NW Research and Extension Center (NWREC); Business Center (NABC); Organic Seed Alliance (OSA); and local farms and farmers, chefs, and agriculture organizations participating.
On Friday, Hands-on events will take place from 1:30 to 5 p.m. as scheduled:
- Humane On‐Farm Livestock Slaughtering with Farmstead Meatsmith $135 hands on participation; $40 observation
- Biochar (Tom Miles) Free at Coffelt’s Farm
- Farm‐to‐School in Action: Three Part Workshop at Orcas School – Free

- Seed Growers Gathering with OSA (5:30 p.m. at Hogstone Pizza in Eastsound)

- 12:30‐1:45pm Lunch and Keynote (David Montgomery)
- 2:00‐4:30pm Afternoon Sessions
- 4:30‐5:30pm Social Hour
All day: Seed Swap, Seed Libraries, Trade Show, Local Organization tables and Displays
