Thursday, November 30 & Sunday, December 3, 7 – 9 p.m., The Grange
— from Doug Bechtel for Actors Theater of Orcas Island —
The Actors Theater of Orcas Island announces auditions for their winter play at the Grange. The final decision on which play to produce will be made after auditions (to fit the play to the available actors rather than the other way around). Under consideration are two plays by Neil Simon, including “Barefoot In The Park” as well as comedies and farces by a number of well known playwrights. Together these plays have characters from their late teens to their 80s with casts of two to eight or more actors. One thing they all have in common is that they are funny and will be fun to be involved in.
The auditions will be readings from the various plays under consideration. Copies of some of the plays will be available at the Library.
We are seeking seasoned as well as new or inexperienced actors. We also want to hear from people interested in building and painting sets, helping with costumes and props, assisting with lighting and sound and being on the running crew (lights, sound and stage crew).
Rehearsals will begin in early December with seven performances on the last two weekends in February and the first weekend in March. People cast in other productions will be cast if the schedules can be worked out.
Auditions will be held on Thursday, November 30 and Sunday, December 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Grange. If you can not make either of these dates but want to be considered or have other questions, contact the director, Doug Bechtel, at 360-317-5601 or at doug@orcasactors.org to set up a mutually agreeable audition time.
Don’t sit at home all winter. Come and have fun with us.
