Vietnam Veterans Memorial Dedication; 11:11 a.m. at the American Legion Hall. Everyone is invited! Orcas Island’s American Legion Post will dedicate its just-completed Vietnam Veterans Memorial during its annual Veterans Day ceremony. The sculpture, sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion (SAL) and created by local sculptor Pete Welty, was recently installed at the Voyle B. Martin American Legion Post 93, located at 793 Crescent Beach Drive.The traditional Veterans Day ceremony will be held inside the Post, beginning at 11:11. The SAL will dedicate the new memorial directly afterwards and the fly over will take place at approximately 11:45 am. “The Welcome” Public screening of welcoming veterans home from war, at 6 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Parish Hall. Introduction and post-screening discussion with Bishop Craig Anderson and viewers. All are welcome. The Welcome. The film chronicles a healing journey of a group of veterans in Southern Oregon. Veterans welcome. Subject matter not suitable for children.

Deer Harbor Community Potluck 6:30 p.m. at the Deer Harbor Community Center. The November 11 potluck is the annual Thanksgiving dinner with turkeys provided by the DHCC Women’s Auxiliary. Please bring a dish to share, your beverage, and your place setting. 376-5404
