Friends of Moran State Park greeted bicyclists beginning the Cascade Summit Bike Challenge this Sunday morning at 10 a.m.

Cyclist Jim Schuh had already ridden to the top of Mt. Constitution, as he does every day, before signing on for the Challenge. Schuh makes the trip in about 45 minutes to an hour. Cyclist Vicky Clancy says she makes the trip in about twice that time.

Plans for next year’s challenge may include a date later in the season, when the trails are open for mountain biking.

Friends of Moran Park member Michel Vekved announced that the Summit Gift Shop will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until the end of September, and will open weekends through October. The Summit Shop number is 376-3111.
