— from Heidi Bruce for Orcas Island Forest School —
The Orcas Island Forest School seeks applications for the newly created position of Executive Director. Our mission is to provide a play-based, all-weather, outdoor early childhood education program that fosters an intimate connection to the natural world and supports children as they develop physically, socially, and emotionally.
After being in operation for three years, we’ve reached a pivotal stage of growth and are looking for a collaborative, passionate, and capable Part-Time Executive Director to help expand our program and work in partnership with island families, community resource agencies, and the Washington State Department of Early Learning in order to ensure equitable and affordable access to nature-based education
The Executive Director is responsible for running all aspects of the school and supervising staff, and is the main point of contact for the Board, Parents, the Community and Early Education programs. This role reports directly to the Board of Directors.
More information about the position can be found here. Additionally, you can learn about our forest school here.
