— from Lorna Rhodes —

Bring your donations for Olga Daze! This year’s celebration will be Saturday, July 16, rain or shine.

Included in the festivities are food, live music, a quilt raffle, a silent auction, and a very large “Barn Sale.”

The barn sale offers everything from furniture, books, toys, tools, and kitchen items to those one-of-a-kind treasures that someone out there is just waiting for.

Bring clean items, in good working order (no clothing) to the shed in Olga Park, next to the Olga Community Club. Intake times are June 30 and July 1, 4:00-6:00pm; July 6 and 7, 4:00-6:00; and July 12 and 13, 4:00-6:00pm.

Please call Steve and Lynn Emmes (376-1461) if you have goods or services to donate to the silent auction.

A tradition of Olga Daze is to raffle a beautiful handmade quilt made by Betty Marcum. Raffle tickets will be on sale outside Island Market on weekends, on the Village Green after the July 4th parade or at Olga Daze. The drawing will take place at Olga Daze but the winner does not need to be present to win.

A photo of the quilt and a list of musicians will be published next week.

All of the proceeds of Olga Daze go toward maintaining the 102-year-old Olga Community Club building, one of the historical treasures of Orcas Island.
