— from Sharon Abreu —
I hope you can join us for this year’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day event on Orcas!
It will be on Monday, January 18 from 1:30-3:30 pm at the Emmanuel Parish Hall in Eastsound.
Everyone is invited to bring a song, poem, thought, short story, or short reading from one of Dr. King’s speeches to share.
This year, Raymond Miller of Marysville will be our special guest. Ray is vice president of the Snohomish County NAACP and president of Vets Place Northwest – Welcome Home. He is a veteran and professional counsellor.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome and will benefit the Orcas Island Food Bank and the Snohomish County NAACP.
Refreshments will be provided, and more are welcome.
With thanks to the Emmanuel Episcopal Parish for their sponsorship of this event.
