Katelynn Minnis with the Orcas Trailblazers at the County Fair, Augl 12-15

The public sees the San Juan County Fair as four days of fun and excitement while the participants of fair prepare themselves for a week long adventure.  From the rides to the animals and the food to the fun, The Fair has it all.

As a teenager I see The Fair as a huge social event.

It’s a time where phones can be put down
and faces can look up
to see all the fun to be had.

I come to  The Fair to participate in the horse show. The Orcas Island Trailblazers, my 4H group, represent Orcas with pride. Most of us arrive at the Sunday before the fair and begin decorating the stalls and bathing the horses. Countless hours of practice pay off as we perform in the arena.  We work hard all year long to show what we got in front of friends and family.

So I hope that you can make the trip to San Juan to cheer us on.  Horse events will be happening everyday all day.

A special appearance of the San Juan County Mounted Posse will take place at 4 p.m. before the Western Games. The San Juan County Fair is a true island experience representing our roots while celebrating our growth.
