Looking for a little Christmas cheer mixed with glitter, flesh colored pantyhose, and nudgingly bawdy dance moves? This Saturday evening, there will be two performance of “Land of the Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker” at the Seaview Theater. “’Land of the Sweets” is a spectacle of ecdysiastic [“stripper” coined by H.L. Mencken] pageantry, and has delighted holiday revelers since 2006 by giving the Nutcracker ballet a bawdy makeover!” noted the Seattle P.I.
Lily Verlaine, Jasper McCann, and their incomparable “corps du burlesque” will return to Orcas at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday night to “delight the newcomer and surprise return visitors to the Land of the Sweets. New cast members formerly of Spectrum Dance Theater and Ballet Bellevue make the dancing even hotter, and favorites from past years will be back in all their glory. Waxie Moon’s nefarious Rat King, Lily’s steamy Countess of Coffee, and Miss Indigo Blue’s icy Snow Queen are on the invite list, but don’t be surprised if some new guests show up at this year’s soiree!
