BRING ME A WHEELBARROW
by Laurel Rust
Bring me a wheelbarrow
for my regrets
an earthmover
for the losses
a weed eater
for my rage and furies
a rake
for my tangled thoughts
a wrecker
for all my mistakes
some large, hand-bound volume
of empty pages
for all I have never understood
and bring me
a curio cabinet
for those moments
of beauty and love. Oh,
I meant to be so much
better all these years.
I’ve taken vases of flowers
to so many, and meant
everything. Bring me
a vase of flowers.

Laurel, I always love your words. You make me think and marvel at how you put things together. Your writing is magic. Thanks for the flowers.
Agree with Joyce Rupp, Laurel;
I want to bring you whole meadows of flowers.
This is world class poetry!
My favorite poem all month. This speaks volumes.
